Academics
Adult Education / GED®
The CF Levy Campus Adult Education/GED program provides instruction on reading/writing and math to prepare students for each GED exam. We are a blended program with in-person classes, supported with digital resources so students have access to study 24/7. In addition, workforce and college transition workshops are provided throughout the semester. Enrollment into select certificate courses are also offered through our Integrated Education and Training (IET) programs.
Steps to Enroll
“They were all so nice there and were invested in my success with the GED program. Everything I needed, they would try their best to help me, not only academically but if I was having some rough times I always had someone to talk to. Not only did the teachers help motivate me to finish but so did the other workers there. That program and all the people there will have the biggest impact on my life.”
Taylor Craig
Graduate of CF Adult Education Class of 2023
“My experience with the program was phenomenal. Every single person on the staff was very supportive when I was getting ready for my tests and just as supportive when I passed them! Anything I needed help with, they did just that, and if I didn’t quite get it one way they would explain it in another. They have been very awesome, I almost wish I could do it again.”
Julia Anderson

“I felt it was important to get my GED so I could further my education and fulfill God’s will for my life. My journey at CF was very exciting there were many helpful people that encouraged me throughout my three semesters I was there. Now that I have graduated I plan on going to college at the College of Central Florida Levy Campus in spring 2023 to become an EMT.”
Gabriella Waters

“Graduating with my GED was truly a life changing day for me. I realized once I had my diploma I could get a well-paying job, go to college, or if nothing else – just feel good about the fact that I had pushed through and earned my GED!”

Classes are held Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m in-person at the Levy Campus. Access to Essential Education, our online program, is also provided to students so that they are able to study outside of class times. Tuition
The program costs $30 per semester. This fee covers your classes, pre- and post-tests (TABE), workbooks, Essential Education access, workforce coaching and career planning sessions. Students may be eligible for testing scholarships to cover the costs of the GED Ready tests and each GED subject exam. Scholarships are dependent upon students meeting specific criteria. Financial assistance is also determined by what is available at the time of enrolling.
Graduation
We offer two graduation ceremonies each year for our graduates. Caps, gowns and tassles are included free of charge. Students can be nominated to be part of the National Adult Education Honors Society.

GED Exam
Unsure if you need classes? There are four subtests that make up the GED: RLA, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Each subject has an unlimited number of practice tests known as GED Ready tests. They are currently $6.99 each through GED Testing Service and will indicate how well you are likely to do on the actual tests. If you have taken one or more of the GED Ready tests and determine you need classes, please give us a call so we may assist you in getting enrolled.
- Adults can schedule one section at a time of the GED through their GED account. The account links directly to their location and will show all available testing centers within the area.
- According to FLDOE, minors must be enrolled in a qualifying Adult Education/GED program or they may choose to “Challenge” the exam. Candidates who are seeking this option must contact Christine Dunn at dunnc@cf.edu or 352-658-4077, Ext. 2119 to begin the process.
